Tom Abate - Global Technology
Tom Abate will cover the technology sector for GlobalPost. Mr. Abate has covered Silicon Valley as a newspaper reporter since 1992, but his experience with high-tech goes back to the mid-1980s when he tracked the industry for a Wall Street investment firm. A former businessman who has founded two companies, he made the transition to professional writing after attending Columbia Graduate School of Journalism where he earned a Pulitzer Traveling Fellowship for exemplary performance. He began his daily journalism career as a science writer for the San Francisco Examiner and now works for the San Francisco Chronicle, where he has also covered economics and biotechnology and authored "The Biotech Investor." Mr. Abate is a native of New York and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
