Michael Goldfarb will serve as a GlobalPost Correspondent in the United Kingdom. For almost two decades Goldfarb was one of public radio's most familiar voices from London: first as NPR's London correspondent and later bureau chief; then as the senior correspondent for the public radio program "Inside Out." Most recently he has been a documentary maker for the BBC World Service. Goldfarb has covered conflicts and conflict resolution from Northern Ireland to Bosnia to the Middle East to Latin America. He covered the war in Iraq as an unembedded reporter based in Kurdistan. His book on the conflict, "Ahmad's War, Ahmad's Peace: Surviving Under Saddam, Dying in the New Iraq" was named one of the New York Times' Notable Books of 2005. Since September 11th, he has reported extensively on radical Islam from Cairo to Tehran to the streets of London. His report, "British Jihad: Inside Out," won the Overseas Press Club's Lowell Thomas Award for Outstanding Radio Journalism. His other major awards include the duPont-Columbia Silver Baton for his report "Surviving Torture: Inside Out," as well as Edward R. Murrow Awards for "Ahmad's War: Inside Out" and "Snakeheads and Slavery: Inside Out," a look at human trafficking in Britain.
