Coverage of Thailand for GlobalPost will be led by Patrick Winn, reporter, and Pailin Wedel, photojournalist and multimedia producer.
Winn's work is backed by deep reporting and driven by narrative storytelling. He has chased stories to North Korea's barren river border and inside heavily fortified stealth jet hangars. He has investigated one of the U.S. military's most savage troop-on-troop murders and followed Mormon missionaries on their door-to-door quest. His articles have appeared in USA Today, the Village Voice and Gannett's Military Times newsmagazines. He is a graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Wedel specializes in online multimedia journalism. She has handled assignments as diverse as the 2004 tsunami that ravaged much of Thailand's coast and the rise of gangs in post-industrial North Carolina. She helped modernize the Raleigh (NC) News & Observer's multimedia content and has coached students at the Poynter Institute for Media Studies, a journalism education center and think-tank in Florida. She is fluent in Thai and Spanish and conversational in Mandarin. Wedel is the daughter of a Thai professor and former Bangkok bureau chief for United Press International.
