Meline Toumani will be the GlobalPost Correspondent in Turkey. Toumani's stories and essays have appeared in the New York Times Magazine and the New York Times culture pages, the Boston Globe, The Nation, the literary journal n+1, Culture and Travel magazine, and Salon.com. Iranian by birth, Armenian by ethnicity, and American by most other criteria, Toumani has infused her work with critical views on identity, nationalism, and the complexities of cross-cultural perception. Her first book, a reflection on how history is written and remembered, will be published by Random House in 2009. She writes frequently about classical music of the East for the New York Times, and also specializes in the intersection of culture and technology. Toumani earned her master's degree in cultural reporting and criticism at New York University in 2003. She graduated from Berkeley in 1998 with high honors in English and public policy.
